Building Coach/Teacher Relations

In this course teachers will participate in a coaching residency to experience a collaborative job embedded professional learning process with an instructional coach.  Together the teacher and instructional coach will identify a focused goal in the area specific to achievement, behavior, or attitude, learn about and implement a strategy aligned to the goal and monitor progress toward meeting the goal with the purpose of improving teaching and learning.  

Fall Dates BTCR I: September 19-December 20, 2022
Fall Dates BTCR Round II: 
September 19-December 20, 2022
Winter Dates: BTCR Round II: January 19, 2023-April 25, 2023  

WSR Building Teacher/Coach Relations
1 Credit Course Requirements

*Pair with an Instructional Coach to work through the stages of this course.  

*Schedule to be determined by teacher and coach.

Steps for completing the Building Teacher/Coach Relations Course:
Teacher’s role:

1- Decide on the desired focus/strategy related to achievement, instruction, behavior, or attitude

2- Research topic/strategy

3- Make a plan and implement

4- Review and reflect on results

5- Make plan for the future and share work with outside audience 

6-Write a reflection detailing your learning and impact from this process and any outcomes from doing this work. Include any data you collected throughout this process. (Minimum two pages-Due on the last day of class to your coach.)

7- Complete 15 hours (30 hours outside) meeting with a coach to reflect on your work and progress, turn in completed course log. (Due on the last day of the course to your coach.

10- The Coach’s role in this course is to support the teacher’s learning, ask reflective questions to help drive instructional decisions, and to assist the teacher in finding resources that encourage professional growth for the teacher. The by-product of this work will be creating a teacher/coach partnership to impact student learning.
