Create a lesson plan for teaching students how to use the calm corner when they feel dis-regulation setting in. Teach all students in the class the procedures for using the calm corner along with a data tracking system to document who, when, and long a student uses the calm corner for self-regulation throughout the day. Build your background knowledge on the Zones of Regulation to see if parts or all of the components would benefit your students self-regulating at school. In some cases, a teacher can use all or parts of the basics of a program and then build a system organically that meets his/her professional needs.
